Sherry Holub - Creative Director

Sherry has a B.A. in Art and 17+ years of experience in design. Sherry is the first point of contact for new clients, oversees design and marketing, and keeps things running smoothly. Sherry has also been a guest speaker on design and marketing at business organizations, has been a judge for creative awards such as the Davey Awards, and writes a number of the articles you can find on the JVM Blog.

"When I was in 1st grade I won a school poster contest with a bag of crayon shavings. It was inevitable I'd find myself in art school in Los Angeles. I was heavily into photography and mixed media then fell into design while involved in, "the music industry". In 1995 I decided to do my own thing and started JV Media Design (aka JVM). I'm currently the Creative Director here at JVM and have had the pleasure of working with a wide range of clients from epic corporations to rockstars to farmers. I love what I do. In my spare time I create art, take pictures, do Qigong, write comic books, and visit the Oregon coast. Sometimes I'm even lucky enough to get in an art show or two in."

Q & A

Q: How do you rock at JVM?
I’m the Creative Director here. I'd say Creative Genius but I know how that would sound...and I don't want to be confused with Apple’s brand.

Q: Why design?
Design is just an extension of art to me.

Q: Where do you draw inspiration from?
Everywhere and everything. Friends, other artists and writers inspire me a lot too.

Q: What's the most rewarding thing about what you do?
I like applying creativity to a project.

Q: What's the last book you read?
"The World House" by Guy Adams

Q: Fav tunes while working?
Just putting iTunes on random and letting it go.

Q: If you had 2 extra hours in the day what would you do with them?
In a perfect world I would probably write or do something artsy for myself. Or I could potentially just stare at a wall for two hours and do absolutely nothing.

Q: Name 3 items on your desk right now.
My iPhone 4s in a wooden bamboo case with an octopus on it, an oragami bunny that Mario made me, and an owl paper weight.

Q: Fav snack to munch on while you're working?
Chips and hummus or salt & pepper chips from Trader Joes.

Q: Besides design what else are you passionate about?
Writing, comic books, muscle cards, natural health, sci-fi, art in general, music.

Q: What's your favorite color?
Blue or green.
